1. Who We Are
STØN is a design and engineering brand focused on thermal systems for hospitality. When you interact with us or use our website, we act as the controller of your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have.
2. Categories of Personal Information We Collect
Under California law, we collect the following categories of personal information:
Identifiers — name, email address, IP address.
Internet or electronic network activity — browser type, device type, operating system, pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URLs, clickstream data, and interaction patterns.
Geolocation data — approximate location derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise geolocation.
Inferences — general conclusions about your interests or preferences drawn from your browsing behavior on our website, used solely to improve site performance and communication.
We collect this information from two sources. First, directly from you when you submit a contact form, send us an email, or otherwise reach out. Second, automatically through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies when you visit our website.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information for the following business purposes: responding to your inquiries and communicating with you, operating and improving our website, analyzing site traffic and usage patterns, and sending updates or information you have opted in to receive.
We do not use personal information for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Tracking Technologies and Meta Pixel
We use cookies, session identifiers, and third-party tracking tools on our website. This includes the Meta (Facebook) Pixel.
The Meta Pixel collects information about your activity on our website and transmits it to Meta. This may include pages visited, actions taken, and technical identifiers. Meta may use this data for its own advertising purposes, including showing you targeted ads on its platforms.
Under the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), transmitting personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising may constitute "sharing" of personal information, even without monetary exchange. To the extent our use of the Meta Pixel qualifies as sharing, you have the right to opt out. See Section 7 below.
You can also manage or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please note that disabling cookies may affect site functionality.
5. How We Disclose Your Information
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of third parties:
Service providers — companies that help us operate our website, host data, or provide technical support. These providers are contractually obligated to use your data only for the purposes we specify.
Advertising and analytics partners — including Meta, for the purposes described in Section 4. Where possible, data shared with analytics partners is aggregated or anonymized.
Legal authorities — when required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. In the preceding 12 months, we have not sold personal information as defined under California law.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
Contact form submissions and related correspondence are retained for up to 24 months after the last communication, unless you request earlier deletion. Email addresses provided for marketing updates are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Analytics and tracking data is retained according to the default retention periods set by each tool provider. For Meta Pixel data, this is generally up to 24 months.
When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
7. Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you the following rights.
Right to know. You can request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources of collection, the business purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we have shared your information.
Right to delete. You can request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain legal exceptions.
Right to correct. You can request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
Right to opt out of sharing. You can direct us to stop sharing your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To opt out, email us at alex@stonnord.com with the subject line "Do Not Share My Information" or adjust your cookie preferences on our website.
Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect categories of information classified as sensitive under CPRA.
Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you services, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised any of these rights.
To submit a request, contact us at lex@stonnord.com. We will verify your identity before processing your request by matching the information you provide with the information we have on file. We will respond to verified requests within 45 days. If we need additional time, we will notify you of the extension and the reason for it. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. This includes encrypted connections to our website, access controls limiting who can view personal data, and selection of service providers that maintain appropriate security practices.
No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection of your data.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in jurisdictions outside your country of residence, including the United States. When data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place consistent with applicable legal requirements.
10. Children's Privacy
Our website and services are not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies independently.
12. Financial Incentives
We do not currently offer financial incentives, price differences, or service differences in exchange for the collection or retention of personal information.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. If changes are material, we will provide notice through our website. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
